Education and Professional Experience
Dr. Hirazumi-Kim grew up in California and Japan as the youngest child in an Air Force family. She first became interested in Noni when, in 1989, she gave some juice to her dog Brownie, who was very sick.
In 1990, Dr. Hirazumi earned her bachelors degree with high honors in chemistry from the University of Hawaii. She eventually became interested in pharmacology. She worked with Dr. Furusawa at Leahi Hospital, studying the mechanism by which the Noni fruit appeared to be working in animals. She earned a Ph.D. in Pharmacology at the University of Hawaii, 1997. Her research for her Ph.D. dissertation demonstrated the anti-tumor activity of Noni fruit juice.
